As the summer comes to an end, be sure to make the most of the warm weather and summer festivities that the season has to offer. With its charming atmosphere, friendly locals, unique shopping, and exquisite dining, Crystal Lake is the ideal place to spend time this summer. Crystal Lake’s extensive summer events schedule is sure to offer something that everyone will love. Here are the top five things to do in Crystal Lake before the end of the summer:
Crystal Lake’s Farmers Market features local vendors in a park-like setting. You’ll find local favorites as well as new, up and coming businesses selling specialty goods like fresh produce, flowers, baked goods, meat, eggs, honey, jams, and olive oils. The Crystal Lake Farmers Market happens every Saturday from 8 AM- 1 PM and runs until the end of September. This is an event you won’t want to miss if you want unique specialty items you can only get in Crystal Lake!
With an 8,000 square foot space, Crystal Lake Antique Mall is sure to have something everyone will love. With 10 different showrooms, you can find unique items including vintage jewelry, china & crystal, Kramer’s Restoration Products, WWII memorabilia, Mudpaint, Star Wars collectibles, games, and more. Looking for something else? Don’t worry. On Crystal Lake’s Downtown Main Street just by the antique mall, you’ll discover specialty stores, boutique clothing shops, and unique art galleries. You’ll be sure to get the real Crystal Lake experience.
Bringing your furry friend along with you this summer? Then be sure to bring your pet to a Nail Trim Sunday event at Thomas’ Tails on E. Crystal Lake Avenue! On every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month, you can get your pet’s nails trimmed at just $5 per animal. All proceeds go to a local animal rescue group! Is there anything better to do than giving back to the community while showing your furry friend some love? We don’t think so!
If you’re looking for a truly authentic Crystal Lake event, then look no further than the Johnny Appleseed Festival. Inspired by the legend himself, the festival hosts several apple- related activities, like an apple scavenger hunt, pancake breakfast, apple pie baking contest, scarecrow decorating contest, and more. Plus, Johnny Appleseed himself will be strolling through the streets of Crystal Lake, sharing his story with all of the festival guests. Like the farmers market, you’ll also find local vendors, crafts, and souvenirs. Held on September 28 from 9- 4, this is definitely an event you’ll want to attend.
